The beauty of being a Senator or a House of Representatives member is the security of tenure. This highly respected post in Nigeria is not restricted to a term or two-term limit. One can be a Senator for the rest of his or her life if no other politician from his constituency ever dares to challenge his candidature after every four years.
In Nigeria, there are some Senators and House of Representatives members who have been in office for more than sixteen years. These Senators and House of Representatives members are often seen repeatedly in the legislative chambers from year to year. This may be because their people love them or mainly because there is no one strong enough to challenge them because of their financial powers.
