Politics is not a do-or-die affair, it is like football clubs. One party will win today and the other party loses tomorrow. But it depends on how each team plays well on the pitch and gathers the best-trained players for the game. If a team does not have the best coach and players, they might lose. The same with politics, it involves understanding, negotiations, gimmicks, permutations, and skimming with other politicians to gather the highest votes at the polling units.
The video of the governorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Andy Uba, and Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dancing at a party in Lagos has surfaced. The video was shared by Punch, where the two gubernatorial candidates were seen holding hands together which shows the game of politics is not a Do-or-Die affair. As they are happy together in Lagos, they should encourage their parties members to always see themselves as people with a good mission and not as enemies preparing for war.
However, they only went to Lagos to solicit the supports of Ndi Anambra living in Lagos. The PDP flag bearer was in Ebonyi state last month to canvas for votes from his brothers residing in the state. And those tagging it fear of unknown gunmen are a group of uninformed people because they have all been campaigning in the state. Those who think they will stop the upcoming election should write their will before coming out to enforce the impossible.
The masses need to understand this principle presented by the gubernatorial candidates, they need to embrace peace with each other and shun violence against each other. Violence retards development while peace leads to the development of a community. People should know that democracy is a choice to people, if somebody is not in your party today, he might embrace it tomorrow.
