Nigeria as a country is a multiethnic nation, peaceful coexistence among the tribes should be encouraged for the country to truly progress.
A thorough study of the state of security nationwide may likely paint a picture of how the security agencies are trying to keep lives and properties safe.
The rise in the cases of kidnapping and clashes between the farmers and herdsmen in the Southern part of the country has been the dominant news in the country for some time now.
Lives and properties had been confirmed lost, many innocent Nigerians have paid a ransom to kidnappers who operate without the fear of being caught up by the law.
The decision of Sunday Igboho to openly confront the issue of insecurity in the Southwest geopolitical zone has pushed the governors to take any action towards finding a lasting solution to insecurity in the state.
After a meeting conducted in Ondo State, the governors took a decisive decision by banning open grazing. This was possibly done to put an end to the farmer-herdsmen clash.
Will the steps that were taken by the governors put an end to the nefarious activities of the herdsmen? Only time will tell.
The Sunday Igboho style of providing solutions to the insecurity challenges seems to be popular among the majority of the people. From Oyo State to Ogun State, he had stuck to his words of flushing out the herdsmen.
A move that has generated mixed reactions in the Yoruba nation, Sunday Igboho's supporters have set up a Gofundme account, with a target of raising a certain amount of money to buy buses that will help him while flushing out the herdsmen.
It was not surprising that a sizeable amount was raised within hours, many people are in total support of the actions taken by Sunday Igboho, at least he is trying to bring a solution to a problem that has been abandoned for years.
If Sunday Igboho should continue in flushing out the herdsmen from the Southwest geopolitical zone, the following are the things that may likely happen.
1. The Federal Government may be left with no choice but to get involved. The government has the responsibility of enforcing the Nigerian law which clearly states that all citizens are free to live in any part of the country.
If Sunday Igboho should refuse to back down on his decision to send packing some people from the Yoruba speaking areas, it's a matter of time before the Federal government gets involved.
2. The rise of Sunday Igboho is a confirmation that the state governors are being usurped as the Chief Security officer of the state, a decision that may lead to a collision between the state governors and Sunday Igboho.
It should be recalled in a video that went viral in which Igboho publicly-traded words with a sitting governor, more of this will likely happen as he began to wield more influence.
3. The political angle: There are some Yorubas that think that Sunday Igboho's actions have some political undertone. Many believed that his actions are political plots being unraveled before the 2023 presidential election.
It may be very hard to counter this view as Sunday Igboho is known to be a useful tool to top politicians in the geopolitical zones years before, his decision to suddenly turn to a Yoruba activist overnight is something many are finding it difficult to believe.
