Photos Of All Lagos State Governors, From Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson To Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State, the centre of excellence, the commercial nerve centre of the nation Nigeria, and the most populous state in Nigeria was created on May 27, 1967 from colony province and Lagos federal territory, by virtue of state (creation and transitional provisions) Decree number 14 of 1967 which restructured Nigeria's federation into 12 States.

Since it's creation, We have had 15 governors, both military administrators and democratically elected . Today, i will be showing you pictures of all the governor's, from the first, Late Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson to the incumbents, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

1. The first Governor (Military Administrator) of Lagos State is Late, Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson, who died on October 30, 2019. He took office on July 1975, and left office in 1977.

2. Commodore Adekunle Lawal, born on February 8, 1934, Died on November 27, 1980, took office on July 1975, left office on 1977.

3. Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, took office in 1977 and left office on July 1978. He was a military governor. He was born on November 3rd 1943 and died on January 13th 2021.

4. Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe, took office on July 1978, and left office on October 1979, (military governor). He was born on October 26 1940.

5. Alhaji Lateef Jakande took office on October 1979, and left office on December 1983. He was a democratically elected governnor, was a member of Unity Party Of Nigria (UPN). The party was a Nigerian political party that was dominant in Western Nigerian during the second republic (1978-1983). The party revolved around the political leadership of Obafemi Awolowo.

6. Air Commodore Gbolahan Mudasiru, took office January 1984, left office in 1986. He was born on 18 October 1945 and died on 23 September 2003.

7. Navy Captain Mike Akhigbe, took office in 1986, left office in July 1988. He was born on September 29, 1946 and died on October 13 2013.

8. Brigadier General Raji Rasaki, took office on July 1988, and left office on January 1992.

9. Sir Michael Otedola, took office on January 1992, and left office on November 1993. He was a member of National Republican Convention (NRC). Born on 16 July 1926, and died on May 5, 2014.

10. Colonel Olagunsoye Oyinlola, took office on December 1993, and left office on August 22 1996.

11. Colonel Buba Marwa, took office on August 22, and left office on May 29 1999.

12. Senator Bola Tinubu, took office on May 29, 1999, and left office on May 29, 2007. He was a democratically elected governnor, he won the election on the platform of Alliance For Democracy.

13. Mr. Babatunde Fashola, took office on May 29 2007, and left office on May 29, 2015. He won elections on the platform of Action Congress Of Nigeria (ACN).

14. Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, took office on May 29, 2015 and left on May 29, 2019. Party: All Progressives Congress (APC).

15. Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is the incumbent governor of Lagos State. He took office on May 29, 2019.
