On April 18, 1981, a young couple, Betty Anyawu and Rotimi Akeredolu walked down the aisle in solemnization of their holy matrimony and was joined as one. Today, Rotimi Akeredolu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria is the Governor of Ondo State while his wife, Betty Akeredolu (Nee Anyawu), a Gender Activist is the First lady of Ondo State and the Founder of Brest Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN).
Their enviable journey started Forty years ago in Enugu where Betty, an indigene of Owerri, the Capital City of Imo State and a Fresh Graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) who was a Staff of the Department of Fisheries met her Heartrob, Rotimi, an indigene of Owo, Ondo State who was serving as a Youth Corper.
During an interview in 2017, Betty revealed that it was Love at first sight. The Couple's Marriage is blessed Four Children namely, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (Jnr.), Dr. Teniola Akeredolu, Mrs. Yejide Runsewe and Babajide Akeredolu and Four Grandchildren.
