Ondo APC: No Going Back On Today's Primary Election-Yahaya Bello

…..Kogi governor insists No perfect election anywhere.

…….We have no delegates’ list hours to primary —Aspirants cry out.

Seven aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State last night demanded the postponement of today’s primary election.

The aspirants at a meeting with the Chairman of the Ondo State All Progressives Congress Governorship Primary election, Governor Yahaya Bello, said they have not been given the list of delegates that will participate in the primaries.

As a result of this, the seven APC aspirants said holding the primaries on Monday is injustice of the highest order.

The aspirants who were at the meeting and sought the postponement of the exercise are Isaacs Kekemeke, Sola Iji, Olayide Adelami, Bukola Adetula, Olusola Oke and Jumoke Ajasin- Anifowose.

They wondered why delegates’ list have not been presented to the aspirants twenty- four hours before the primary mode election.An aspirant, Sola Iji demanded simultaneous accreditation and voting and kicked against accreditation at the party’s secretariat.

Another Aspirant, Jumoke Ajasin-Anifowose frowned at the inability to get electors (delegates) list less than 12 hours to election, as she sought the postponement of the exercise.

Responding, the Chairman of Ondo APC Governorship Primary Election, Yahaya Bello said he has no power to postpone today’s primaries.Bello, who is also the Governor of Kogi State disclosed this at the meeting with the Governorship aspirants in Akure.

Ten out of the 12 aspirants were present at the meeting as Dr Olusegun Abraham shunned the meeting.Bello told the aspirants that his duty is to conduct a credible primary election.

He said, “I don’t have power to postpone Monday’s primaries. We will go ahead with the exercise.Bello asked aspirants to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner, saying whoever wins the primary is a victory to APC.

He said further that the exercise is a family affairs that must be treated as such.

The Kogi governor insisted that there was no going back on the conduct of the primaries, as he said, “I have no power to stop the (primary) election.Bello who sued for peace, promised to conduct credible, free and fair primaries.

“After the primary, I will still come back to the state for reconciliation because APC must win the forthcoming governorship election.

“We will not let you down by the grace of God. Whoever emerges as the candidate of the party, I am going to work and ensure such person win the general election.“There is no perfect election anywhere even in advanced countries like the US,” he said.
