Soldiers Flee As Gunmen Overrun Niger Military Camp, Steal Vehicle

No fewer than 60 bandits invaded the military camp in the early hours of Wednesday in the Zagzaga community in the Munya Local Government Area of Niger State. They engaged the soldiers in a gun battle, leading to heavy casualties on the side of the bandits


The latest attack on the military base in the state came barely three weeks after bandits attacked a Security Joint Task Force base in Allawa and Basa in the Shiroro Local Government Area of the state, killing five soldiers and a policeman.

According to a reliable source close to the Zagzaga community, the bandits stormed the community at about 4 am and divided hemselves into three groups.


FG Appoints Four GM, Eight AGMs For Ports Authority [Full List]

The Federal Government has announced the appointment of four new General Managers (GM) and eight Assistant General Managers (AGM) for the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).


Naija News reports that this was made known in a statement on Wednesday by AGM, Corporate & Strategic Communications, Ibrahim Nasiru.

According to the NPA, the move was in furtherance of the commitment to motivate its workforce and building a formidable succession plan in line with the federal character principle.

The new GMs are: Olaseni Alakija, who becomes General Manager, Corporate & Strategic Communications, Patricia Aboh (Mrs).

Others are Servicom; Mr Sylvester Nwankwo General Manager, MD's Office and (Mrs.) Anthonia Ohagwa, General Manager, ICT.


Olufon of Ifon in Orolu Local Government Area Dies

Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State has described the passing of the Olufon of Ifon in Orolu Local Government Area of the State, Oba Almorouf Adekunle Magbagbeola, as a colossal loss.

The Governor in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan on Thursday in Osogbo, offered his sympathies and prayers to the Royal Family and the people of Ifon.


Oyetola, who described Oba Almorouf as a symbol of history, culture and heritage, said the late monarch would be remembered as a visionary leader who made important contributions to cultural identity, national unity, peace and progress of Osun and Nigeria as a whole.

He prayed Allah to grant him Aljana Fridaus and equally grant the family and people of Ifon the fortitude to bear the loss.


World Leaders Have Much To Learn From Mr. Governor –LSETF

The Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), Mrs. Tejumola Abisoye, lauds the Lagos State Governor for exhibiting unusual bravery in the face of daunting economic challenges to invest in massive infrastructural development, even as the national economy is still recovering from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.


The commendation is contained in a press release sent to reporters on Wednesday, 21st April 2021, following an interview granted by the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to Channels Television, where he enumerated the many physical projects that the administration is currently undertaking.

Mr. Sanwo-Olu said, amongst other things, that the Lagos Rail Project would cost over N100 billion, a project that is a first by any sub-national government in Africa.
