Ahead of the Osun State gubernatorial election holding in 2022, the crisis rocking the ruling party, APC in the state became more worsened on Saturday as two chairmen emerged in the state congress election held in Oshogbo.
According to the report, a faction of the loyalists of the former Governor Rauf Aregbesola called 'TOP' held a parallel congress at the same time the state congress under the control of the Governor was taking place.

It will be recalled that the same crisis ensued during the ward and local government congresses with the TOP caucus within the party holding parallel congresses.
Before now, the two gladiators were once invited to sue for peace by Chief Bisi Akande and Bola Tinubu, but to no avail as they have remained adamant to stealth their swords.
In a recent interview, Oyetola had argued that the Minister of Interior had no reason whatsoever not to support his administration because he gave him the required support while he was serving as Chief of Staff to him.
It is believed that things started falling apart between the two godsons of Tinubu when the incumbent governor was accused of rubbishing most of Aregbesola's policies.
It was alleged that Oyetola sidelined most of his predecessor's loyalists within the party by romancing with the opposition members.
Recall that the Minister at his ward in Ilesha had slammed Oyetola for allowing the likes of senator Iyiola Omisore and his supporters into APC. He had in a viral video argued that the people of questionable character and Bola Ige's killers shouldn't be allowed.

1. Adegboyega Famodun
He was the Caretaker Committee Chairman seeking election as the APC State Chairman. At the congress which had Governor Oyetola in attendance, Famodun was elected at the state congress organized by the Gbenga Elegbeleye-led committee on Saturday.
In his acceptance speech, he thanked Oyetola, the party elders, Bisi Akande, and all members of the party for believing in him.
He, therefore, appealed to the aggrieved members to “bury the hatchet to collectively work for the re-election of Governor Gboyega Oyetola during the next year’s governorship election"
2. Rasaq Salinsile
He was elected State Party Chairman by delegates who are TOP members during the parallel state congress. Before his election, he was the Secretary of the APC state caretaker committee and is a staunch loyalist of Aregbesola.
Also in his acceptance speech, the factional chairman said: “I believe that we have all taken a promising and informed decision to redirect the party affairs and revive the progressive tendencies which have been bastardized by the opportunists.”

As reported by the Independent, the adoption of a modality on the state congress was the bone of contention between the warring factions.
Oyetola faction of the party had insisted on the adoption of a consensus method of selecting party leadership. While the group loyal to Aregbesola maintained that there must be a contest and that all positions must be contested since there was no agreement on which method to be adopted by party stakeholders in the state.
