The former governor of Imo state and currently the Senator representing Imo senatorial district has finally reacted to the recent attacks on various security facilities in the state.
He advised the state governor, Hope Uzodimma to "apply wisdom and not confrontation" in trying to address the security challenges be-devilling the state.
He further advised against the use of the Airforce and army as first resort, saying it could potentially aggravate the situation.
Speaking in Jos, Plateau state, he said, "I think the time has come for political leaders to tell ourselves the truth and address this ugly situation and also help our arm forces and the police. We are currently fighting the symptom and not the disease of poverty and injustice, something must be done urgently if we are willing and ready to address the situation.”
Regarding the porous location of both the state command headquarters of the Police as well as the correctional center, he said, "Meanwhile, what I will urge the Imo State Government to do is to relocate the Police headquarters and the correctional service because the location is wrong."
Conclusively, he admonished both the state and federal government to apply wisdom in handling the situation by engaging the Youths "constructively" instead of attempting to use force of "politizing the issue."
