Shehu Sani escapes death as train runs over explosive-damaged rail

Shehu Sani, a former senator representing Kaduna central district, Thursday morning escaped death after a train he boarded ran over an explosive-damaged rail track.

“It took a miracle for us to escape,” said the 53-year-old, who is also the President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria and the Chairman of Hand-in-Hand, Africa.

In a tweet, he said the incident came after terrorists on October 20 attacked the Kaduna-Abuja railway with an explosive.

The Kaduna politician and human rights activist said the attackers opened fire on the train, targeting the engine driver and the tank.

He shared a video on the attacked train.

Armed men in the northern part of the country have continued to unleash a series of onslaught targeted at travellers along major routes, making transit from one point to another increasingly risky.
