Obi’s Visit Not About Reconciliation—Soyinka

Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka says Peter Obi’s visit was not for “reconciliation” as reported in some quarters.

Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, visited the literary icon on Sunday following the former’s supporters – known as Obidients – recent fallout with Soyinka after he faulted the former Anambra governor’s running mate’s comment about the exercise.

Following the visit, many reports claimed it was a reconciliatory move by the LP flagbearer. But in a statement on Monday evening, Soyinka said the visit was not for such.

Even Heaven Can't Help Obi—Bichi

Abba, a son of Director General of the State Security Service, DSS, Yusuf Magaji Bichi, has asserted that the president-elect, Bola Tinubu is the “legally elected president” despite suits by opposition candidates challenging his victory.

He particularly taunted the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, saying even heaven cannot reclaim the victory from Tinubu and give it to him.

He said heaven would rather send Obi back and declare Tinubu the legitimate president.

Crude Oil Buyers Should Pay Nigeria In Naira, Not Dollar – Falana

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, has condemned what he described as the dollarisation of the Nigerian economy, adding that the country has no business selling crude oil in dollars.

He said he has led a campaign against the dollarisation of the economy to the leadership of the Central Bank of Nigeria who have promised to address the situation but have been unable to do so.

Falana, who was a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, also questioned the position of Nigeria amid the quest by the BRICS countries and others to introduce an international currency to challenge the dollar.

“Along our campaign (against dollarization of the economy), the world is moving. The BRICS is now campaigning that it is going to have an international currency to challenge the dollar. About 24 countries have applied to join the body in their next summit that will take place in South Africa. I am simply asking, what is the position of Nigeria?

APC NWC adopts Tinubu’s zoning template, settles for Akpabio/Barau, Abbas/Kalu

The National Working Committee NWC of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC has adopted a zoning template for the position of principal officers of the 10th National Assembly.
