She served as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Maiduguri before venturing into the public sector. She was the Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation and Youth Empowerment in her home state and until her election in 2019, she was the Commissioner for Water Resources.
Sandwiched in between those two appointments, she was the Chairman, Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), Borno state.
As a First-Time Representative, she has sponsored two Bills. The first was the Federal Housing Authority Act (Repeal and Enactment) and the Nigerian Institute of Management Act (Amendment Bill); both within the first six months of her first year in 2019.
She was elected the vice-chairperson, Commonwealth Women in Parliament (CWP) International in Kampala, Uganda at its 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) at Speke Resort Munyonyo, Kampala on September 24, 2019.
She is also the African Regional chairperson of the CWP. Her emergence as vice-chair of CWP African Region qualifies her to represent the continent at the CWP International meetings as a member.
Just last week, she organized an empowerment programme which was attended by Gov Zulum, his deputy and many other dignitaries, where she doled out 118 vehicles, 200 tricycles, 800 sewing machines, 400 grinding machines.
Also donated 492 water pumps to her constituents to empower them and millions of Naira to families of those who lost loved ones during her electioneering.
She also distributed N15m and 770 bags of rice to her party members from the Ward to the State.
She's the Vice Chairman, House Committee on SDG and the 4th female to be elected into any office from her state.
