There are two top members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that Former President Olusegun Obasanjo can endorse as presidential and vice-presidential candidates of the opposition party in the next general election. Obasanjo has once served as the president of the country, and he must have gained the required experience for him to be able to select the politicians that will be representing the interest of the party in the next general election.

Before the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can outsmart the ruling party, there are problems that the members of the opposition party need to solve completely before the incoming presidential election. Firstly, the party has to settle all the internal crises among the top stalwarts in the party. Currently, the party has yet to resolve the issue of Prince Uche Secondus who is still parading himself as the chairman of the party even when he has been cautioned not to claim the chairmanship position.

After solving the internal crises among the members of the party, another issue that the members of the party need to solve is the selection of the flag bearers of the party. The party has to carefully select people that will be representing the interest of the party in the upcoming presidential election. As a politician who has served in the position before, Olusegun Obasanjo will be able to endorse the right and qualified people for the opposition party ahead of the election.

The first person that Olusegun Obasanjo can endorse as the presidential candidate of the party is Dr Bukola Saraki from Kwara State. Bukola Saraki is the immediate past senate president of the national assembly, and he has gained multiple national outlooks when it comes to national elections. He worked under the government of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, and he is also interested in becoming the flag bearer of the party.

Bukola Saraki contested against Atiku Abubakar and Aminu Tambuwal from Sokoto State in the last presidential election. As faith would have it, he lost in the party's primary to Atiku Abubakar. Saraki has served as governor of Kwara State, and he served as the senate president of the national assembly. Bukola Saraki will want to proceed in his political career, and he is likely to be successful if he gets Obasanjo's endorsement.

For the post of vice president, Obasanjo can endorse Peter Obi from Anambra State. In the last presidential election, Peter Obi participated actively in the electioneering processes. He ran alongside Atiku Abubakar as his running mate, and he provided adequate support for the northerner in the year 2019 general election. Although the two PDP members lost the election, Peter Obi's activities cannot be overemphasized. Obasanjo should endorse Bukola Saraki as the president and Peter Obi as the vice president.
