Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom is one of the Northern politicians who believe that what Nigeria needs in 2023 is a leader who can fix the challenges facing the country irrespective of the region of such person.

However, Governor Ortom according to Sahara Reporters said that zoning of the Presidency to the North brought in President Buhari in 2015 but that Nigeria has gained nothing since then.
I was a bit disappointed with that statement of Governor Ortom and I feel he failed to realise something which we will discuss in this article.
What is it that Governor Samuel Ortom failed to realise when he said zoning brought in Buhari but Nigeria got nothing?

The PDP Governor who was a member of the APC failed to realise that the current challenges facing the country didn't start with Buhari's government. It won't end if another President comes in 2023 because the challenges facing the country cannot be solved at once. It requires committed and it will take time.
Take, for instance, the activities of Boko Haram insurgents didn't start with Buhari's government. It started even during the administration of the late Musa Yaradua in 2009.
Former President Jonathan inherited it. The same as President Buhari. Let's look at the economy. Crude oil which is the main source of income for the government was a lucrative commodity before 2015 when the price crashed at the international market.
While Governor Ortom has the right to express his opinion on the administration of President Buhari, I need to remind him that even if PDP Government comes on board in 2023, the problems of the country won't be solved overnight.

While some Nigerians may not be happy with the government of Buhari especially in the area of insecurity, he has not done badly in the area of infrastructure especially as it concerns the railways.
