The administration of Muhammadu Buhari would "do all possible" to assure the holding of the general elections in 2023, according to Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture.

Mr. Mohammed spoke out against the growing worries about the elections' viability in light of the tenuous status of the country's security.
Following the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, the government's public face refuted pessimistic predictions that the existing security issues will hamper the polls.
In response to a question from a reporter, Mr. Mohammed said, "Yes, some groups have been apprehensive and concerned about whether there can be elections next year given the condition of violence in the nation.
I can guarantee elections because the Nigerian government will do every effort to not only ensure elections but also to secure the nation, stated the minister.
Mr. Mohammed also praised security organizations for their tireless efforts to uphold law and order.
"I'm sure you heard the president say yesterday that military leaders now have all the resources and authority necessary to put an end to this insurgency and banditry.
"I believe that the president alone has the authority to decide whether or not service chiefs should resign.
The minister affirmed, "The Service Chiefs have been doing their best and they will continue to do so."
