The Akwa Ibom State governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel Gabriel has today, Saturday 6th February, 2021 paid his last respect to the first indigenous and former military governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga rtd.
The Akwa Ibom governor who took minutes to recount the good deeds of late Nkanga, said that the former military governor was a man he trusted with his whole life. He maintained that Nkanga's humility, sincerity, outspokenness, loyalty and commitment to set goals were the characters that attracted the former governor to him. He said that to him, Idongesit Nkanga was his confidant and most trusted adviser.
Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga before his death had been a four time Campaign Director General for two state governors who had two terms each. He was the Chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, and also Chairman of Ibom Air.
Other dignitaries who graced the funeral were; the governor of Bayelsa state, Mr. Doure Diri, APC National Secretary, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, Chairman Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority, Mr. Umana Okon Umana, Senior Special Assistant on Niger Delta Affairs to the President, Senator Ita Enang, ranking officers of the Nigerian Army, Air Force, Navy, past and present members of National Assembly, State House Members, Clergymen, amongst others.
