Wike Speaks On Insecurity
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has asked the Federal Government to provide answers to the $1 billion dollars that was withdrawn from the Excess Crude Account to purchase arms for the fight against insecurity.
Speaking during a recent interview on Channels Television’s Newsnight which aired on Monday, the governor asked President Muhammadu Buhari to hold officials accountable for their actions.

President Muhammadu Buhari-led government says kidnapping and banditry are not federal offences in Nigeria.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, Information Minister, Lai Mohammed made the comment in response to the statement on insecurity by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“It is shocking that a party that ruled this nation for all of 16 years does not know that kidnapping and banditry are not federal offences”, he said.
The minister told the party to call out the states, including those being controlled by it, to ensure a rigorous prosecution of arrested kidnappers and bandits.
Vigilantes Turn Back Herdsmen From Entering Kwara Town
Local vigilantes in Ipee town in Oyun local government area of Kwara State on Tuesday prevented some herdsmen from entering the town.
The herdsmen said to be on transit in four trucks were turned back at Ipee town.
It was gathered that the men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the police intervened to prevent the situation from degenerating into a bloodbath.
The security operatives, it was gathered, ensured that the herdsmen made a detour and returned to their base.
"Politicians Are Plotting To Remove Buhari" -Presidency
The Presidency has said there is evidence showing that some disruptive elements are now recruiting the leadership of some ethnic groups and politicians around the country, to forcefully remove President Muhammadu Buhari from office.
The Presidency in a statement made available to newsmen by Garba Shehu, the Presidential Spokesman, said the individuals are “convening some sort of conference, where a vote of no confidence would be passed on the President, thus throwing the land into further turmoil.”
