The Caretaker Committee of the All Progresives Congress has to find ways to reconcile the issues between Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu and two other party leaders in Ondo State so as to record success in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
The Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker Committee should understand that Senator Ajayi Boroffice and Mr. Omotayo Alasoadura are not happy with Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu because of what happened during the 2019 general elections.
At that time Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu didn't provide the needed support for Boroffice and Alasoadura, both of whom were seeking another term in the House of Senate.
Mr. Boroffice is from Ondo North Senatorial District. And he got the APC ticket though with stiff oppositions from Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu. At that time Mr. Akeredolu backed up Mr. Tunji Abayomi, a lawyer, for the APC ticket to run for the House of Senate.
Seeing that his candidate has lost the ticket, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu allowed Tunji Abayomi to join the Action Alliance (AA). Mr. Abayomi contested on that platform with maximum support from the state governor and the Akeredolu's structure in the APC.
Nevertheless, Mr. Ajayi Boroffice sailed through. He defeated the PDP and AA to emerge victorious and returned elected into the Senate. However, the fact remains that he didn't get support from the state government.
Therefore, the Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker Committee should look for ways to pacify Mr. Ajayi Boroffice and reconcile the two. The committee should know that Boroffice's contribution in the Senatorial District is very crucial as he remains the leader of the APC in the area.
Also Mr. Tayo Alasoadura must be very aggrieved. He was not supported by the state governor Rotimi Akeredolu. Even it was obvious that Akeredolu didn't want Alasoadura to return to the Senate.
Yet the All Progresives Congress gave the ticket to Alasoadura because of his loyalty to the APC. He went into the election without the adequate support he should enjoy from the Ondo State chapter of the APC and from Rotimi Akeredolu.
In the election, Mr. Alasoadura polled 57,828 votes to come behind Mr. Akinyelure who scored 66,978. And Mr. Alasoadura lost the election.
But the APC didn't just let Mr Alasoadura down. He was compensated. The Buhari's Government and the APC recognised his importance in the APC, hence he was nominated as the minister from Ondo State.
The Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker Committee should make fruitful attempts to bring Akeredolu, Boroffice and Alasoadura together all for the interest of the APC in Ondo State. The three are very important to the success of the party.
