Jagaban of Niger Delta - Reactions as Gov Wike Storms Ex-NDDC MD's Home, Rescues Her From Police.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, stormed the home of former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Joy Nunieh after she was blocked from leaving her home by security operatives on Thursday morning.
According to Sahara Reporters, the armed policemen arrived at the home of the former MD around 4 am and stopped her from leaving for the airport.
She was to testify at the front of the Nigerian Senate Committee investigating alleged mismanagement of funds by the Interim Management Team of the NDDC.
After the lady raised alarm, the Rivers State Governor stormed her home and rescued her from police siege.
Governor Wike arrived at the building with his security details and newsmen. He later went away with the former Managing Director.
Joy Nunieh and the Minister for Niger Delta, Godwin Akpabio, have been on loggerhead after she was removed from her position.
She alleged that the former governor engineered her removal because she refused to dance to his tones.
She also said to have slapped the minister because he was trying to harass her.
The minister said he knows nothing about the expenditure of the commission when she was the MD because she refused to brief him.
The National Assembly is currently investigating the mismanagement of funds by the commission and the lady is expected to appear at the venue today.
Many Nigerians have commended the governor for rescuing the lady in distress. Some said Governor Wike is now the Jagaban of the South-South region.
