3 Reasons Why The APC Is Confident About Winning The 2023 Presidential Election With Ease

There is no doubt that the forthcoming 2023 presidential election, is expected to be a battle between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). As the two dominant political parties in the country, many people are of the view that either of the two parties would clinch victory at the 2023 presidential party.

Despite that the election is over a year away from now, many of the APC chieftains appear to be confident about their party winning the 2023 presidential election with ease. This can also be argued to have equally been the belief of some former PDP chieftains that recently defected to the APC. It is often said that in a democratic society, the electorates decide who wins an election as a winner can only emerge by polling the highest number of valid votes cast.

Even with this belief, the APC has remained confident about its victory at the 2023 presidential election, and perhaps, other elections that would hold during the same period. With this, we may begin to wonder what could be the reason for the high level of confidence that the APC has about winning the 2023 presidential election, despite public complaints about insecurity and inflation rates in the country. In my view, these are 3 reasons the party is confident about winning the 2023 presidential election.

1. The APC believes it has the backing of the majority of Nigerians.

Arguably, the APC believes it is loved by the majority of Nigerians who are solidly behind the party despite the challenges confronting the country. This is undoubtedly one of the reasons the party is confident about winning the 2023 presidential election. The belief is that the masses are backing the party, and will troop out during the election, to ensure that the APC retains power beyond 2023.

2. The party believes that they know how to win the hearts and votes of Nigerians.

There is no doubt that the APC is aware that it does not have the support of all Nigerians. However, the belief could be that when it is time, they know what to do to win the hearts and votes of those who are not currently in support of the party.

3. The APC no longer regards the PDP as a strong force.

Arguably, the APC no longer regards the PDP as a strong force. This can be argued to have been worsened by the continuous defection of notable PDP chieftains to the APC. With the continuous defection of PDP members, there are chances that the APC could be of the view that the PDP is getting weaker on a daily basis, and cannot be seen as a serious challenge ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Arguably, outcome of elections in Nigeria are hard to predict, particularly when it comes to presidential elections. However, recent events have shown that the APC is confident of its victory at the forthcoming 2023 presidential election. With the election still remaining over a year away from now, we may have to wait patiently to see whether the APC will be able to win the election with ease as it believes.
