The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan says the command is expecting Governor Nyesom Wike to handover former Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Joy Nuineh to it.
Governor Wike had on Thursday intervened and rescued Nunieh from her compound following fears her house was under seige by unknown armed men.
CP Mukan told newsmen at his office on Friday that Nuineh is under investigation and the IGP monitoring unit was endorsed by the Rivers State Police command to carry out their legitimate duty.
The Rivers Police boss clarified that he was aware of the presence of the policemen at the Port Harcourt residence of Joy Nuineh and that he has informed the governor to turn her in to face her investigation.
He believes the governor will comply in time even as he assured the public that the police will not harass and intimidate its citizens.
