2023: Southwest APC Governor Who May Never Support Tinubu's Presidential Ambition

As preparations gears up towards the 2023 presidential election, Prince Dayo Adeyeye who is the National Chairman, Southwest Agenda for Tinubu presidential ambition codenamed SWAGA 2023, on Thursday revealed that no fewer than 16 among the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors in the country, are secretly supporting the presidential aspiration of the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

However, even though Tinubu hails from the Southwest, a deep political intrigues unfolding in the APC, show that there's a great likelihood that one of the APC Governor from the region may never support his presidential aspiration.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors' Forum and Governor of Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi has overtime showed his reservation about Tinubu's aspiration and may not support him.

In September, the Governor upon his return from a visit to Tinubu in London, had explained that his trip was not in anyway connected to the 2023 presidential election but rather a show of support to the elder statesman over his health.

Fayemi had also mentioned that only God knows what the future holds in regards to him (Fayemi) vying for presidency, saying "we will cross that bridge when we get there".

Similarly, another political developments which pointed to the fact that Governor Fayemi may not be interested in supporting Tinubu for next presidency, is the fact that the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, who is also known to be a Tinubu loyalist, has on multiple occasions alleged that Fayemi sidelined Tinubu's loyalists in the affairs of the party in the state.

In the same vein, while inaugurating the factional executives belonging to SWAGA group within the party at the ward and local government levels in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, Adeyeye criticized Fayemi over the state of the party in the state, describing the Hon Paul Omotoso-led executives elected by a group loyal to Governor Kayode Fayemi on Saturday as mere impostors.

Consequently, these political battles and intrigues show that Fayemi may not throw his support behind Tinubu's presidential ambition.

But in your thoughts, do you agree that Tinubu can get the support of 16 APC governors as claimed by Adeyeye ?
