PDP Chairman In Delta Defects To APC, Collapses PDP Structure Into New Party

Two days to the 2023 gubernatorial elections across Nigeria, the gale of defections that have torn the PDP to shreds in recent times has continued unabated with the defection of Olorogun Friday Orugbo, Chairman of the PDP in Udu Ward 3 and Chairman of all ward Chairmen in the area, announcing that the PDP was sinking and that he had nothing to do in such a sinking ship anymore.

Chief Friday Orugbo, the Omo-Eni of Udu Kingdom, declared that he was finished with the PDP and that the time had come for him and his supporters to move on. He made this announcement in front of a massive crowd of fervent party supporters and followers on Thursday.

In order to join the progressive family and uproot the PDP from Delta state on Saturday, the former president general of the Ogbe-Udu community revealed that he was relocating alongside unit leaders, party exco members, and sympathizers numbering over 200 to the APC.

He expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he has received since deciding to leave the PDP, stating that he was determined to take the risk of following his heart and personal conviction by joining the APC in order to take part in the final push to overthrow the PDP on Saturday and implement Senator Ovie Omo-brilliant Agege's campaign platform for a better Delta State.

In order to create a new Delta where the rule of law, peace, respect for people, and the welfare of the citizens will thrive, he pleaded with the residents of Ogbe-Udu, Ukpiovwin, Okolor-Inland, Okolor-Waterside, as well as the entire Udu community to support the APC. He also added that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was going to win on Saturday.

The decampees were welcomed by Comrade David Rheriobore, Chairman of the APC in Udu LGA, who praised them for joining the APC family and extended an open hand in greeting.

He expressed his satisfaction with Chief Friday Orugbo's courageous decision to leave the PDP along with his throngs of fans and well-wishers, emphasizing that with the Omo-Eni in the APC, the fight to win ward three was done. According to Daily independent.

He promised the defectors that they would be treated equally with the old members and that they would receive a large prize in due time for their role to the party's success.

Rheriobore also gave the new members the assurance that later in the day, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the Deputy Senate President, would formally welcome them into the party so they could be completely assimilated and presented to the APC's Delta State leadership.

Comrade Mike Ibada, the chairman of the APC Campaign Council in Udu, and other Party leaders were present to welcome the new members.

Mr. Okuku Nyerhovwo, the party's ward secretary and another exco member, were among those who followed Chief Friday Orugbo in joining the APC.

Two days before the election, the ward exco joined the APC, sparking a flurry of celebration that included dancing down the main streets in the Ogbe-Udu neighborhood to announce Chief Orugbo's entry into the APC fold.
