The beautiful young daughter of the former Governor of Sokoto state have died during childbirth. Governor Wamakko's 23-year-old daughter died some few hours ago at the Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital, Sokoto state. The diseased identified as Miss Sadiya Magatakarda Wamakko died as a result of childbirth complications which occured during childbirth at the prestigious hospital.
The diseased died on Thursday night and was later layed to rest the same night. The diseased is the daughter of the former Governor of Sokoto state, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko. Wamakko was the former Governor of Sokoto who ran for governor under PDP in the 2007 elections. Wamakko won the election and resumed office on May 2007. His election was later annulled but he regained back his seat on May 2008 re-run. Wamakko was succeeded by Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
The death of Wamakko's daughter is a sad reminder that the health sector in Nigeria still has a long way to go. It will be difficult for a pregnant woman to die from childbirth complications in a hospital located in Europe. The issue of childbirth complications shouldn't be in existence in 2020. The Nigerian hospitals have to figure out how they will correctly sort out any issue a pregnant woman might have before she goes into the labour room. May the soul of Miss Sadiya Magatakarda Wamakko rest in peace, and may the Almighty God console her family during this time, Amen.
