1. Ibrahim Magu Took His Rejection By The Senate I Led Personally-Saraki Reveals

Bukola Saraki, former president of the senate, says Ibrahim Magu, suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), took his rejection by the upper legislative chamber he led personally.

The former senate president said this in reaction to a court order on Thursday directing the federal government to return his houses in Kwara state to him. The court had granted an interim order of forfeiture following an application by the EFCC. The eighth senate led by Saraki rejected the nomination of Ibrahim Magu twice based on a security report by the Department of State Services (DSS).


2. Ondo State: Primate Ayodele Predicts Winner Of APC Primary

The leader of INRI Evangelical spiritual church, Primate Elijah Ayodele has predicted the winner of the July 20 All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election in Ondo State.

The cleric on Friday noted that the electoral process would be won by the state Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

Primate Ayodele further stated that Akeredolu would emerge as the governorship candidate of the party because of the steps he has taken.

The cleric in a statement released on Friday, however, warned that his victory at the primary election doesn’t guarantee his victory in the governorship election because he sees danger lying ahead of him.


3. BREAKING: House of Reps Summon Senator Akpabio

The Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has been summoned to appear before the House Committee on NDDC by 11 am on Monday, July 20, 2020.

The House of Representative vowed to issue a warrant of arrest for Senator Akpabio if he fails to appear before the NDDC panel.

Naija News reports that the former Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Joy Nunieh, had appeared before the House of Reps via Zoom.


4. US Records Highest Daily Cases Of COVID-19 In 24 Hours

Over 77,000 COVID-19 Cases Recorded In One Day

The United States has recorded the highest new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours,

According to the last count as at 10.30 local time at Johns Hopkins University over 77,000 were recorded bringing the total number of infections to 3,560,364. It is the worst daily report in the world since the start of the pandemic.

The current tally of 77,217 cases surpasses the previous record set on Friday when cases rose by 69,070. In June, cases rose by an average of 28,000 a day, according to a Reuters tally. In July, they have risen by an average of 57,625 a day.


5. NDDC crises: Akpabio should resign ― APC chieftain

Urges Buhari not to appoint a police officer as EFCC chair

According to Vanguard news this afternoon, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Jackson Lekan Ojo, has called on the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio to step aside over allegations of financial recklessness in the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC levelled against him.

Ojo who disclosed this in an exclusive chat with Vanguard in Abuja also said allegations by former Managing Director of the commission, Ms Joy Nunieh that she slapped the minister over an indecent behaviour should be properly investigated.
