While speaking on a channels television programme titled "Politics Today", on Wednesday shortly after news broke out that Ibrahim Magu has been released, Mr. Tosin Ojaomo , lawyer to suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) ,Ibrahim Magu stated that his client (Magu) does not sign cheques ,suggesting that Magu could not have stolen or diverted funds. He also said he will be vindicated in the end.
The lawyer to Ibrahim Magu also explained that lots of information in the media about Ibrahim Magu are just concocted lies designed to malign Mr. Magu.
According to the lawyer,Magu will be vindicated in the end because Ibrahim Magu is a law abiding citizen of Nigeria. The lawyer also said that Magu is only facing a fact finding committee.
Mr. Ojaomo also frowned at the way that Magu's security details were withdrawn adding that Magu has stepped on many toes while fighting corruption. He therefore stated that the security details should not have been withdrawal. He revealed that Magu's family had to engage private security outfit to seek protection.
Ojaomo also said that for any Nigerian to be kept for ten days is not a legal thing.
However on the same programme,Mr. Femi Adesina ,spokesmen to the president said that the panel investigating Magu have been sitting for weeks at the presidential villa before inviting magu, saying the invitation was to also hear the side of Magu after reviewing information against him.
