Ex-TUC president urges FG to borrow for capital projects, not consumption
Esele, also a public affairs commentator, made the request on Wednesday, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin.
He was speaking on the backdrop of the 2022 budget proposal recently presented by President Mohammadu Buhari to the National Assembly (NASS).
He noted that from the proposed budget, it was evident that the country was borrowing for consumption rather than for capital projects.
Buhari, security heads meet in Aso Rock
President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with security and intelligence chiefs in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Though the agenda of the meeting was not made public at the time of filing this report, it may not be unconnected with the security situation in the country.
The security heads were expected to brief the President at the meeting and it was also expected that the meeting would have a review of recent security developments across the country.
The meeting coincided on the day the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was arraigned at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Supreme Court to unveil new SANs today
The Supreme Court of Nigeria (SCN) will today, October 21 in Abuja, unveil a new set of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SANs, DAILY POST has gathered.
Their unveiling is coming after four months of suspense and following the final ratification of the selected applicants into the prestigious rank by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee, LPPC.
The successful candidates in the keenly contested exercise are to be made public at the Supreme Court Complex by 5pm in the evening by the acting Chief Registrar of the apex court who also doubles as the Secretary of the LPPC.
Dependable sources confided in DAILY POST that Chief Justice of Nigeria CJN, Honourable Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, who has been keeping the list of the successful candidates to his chest to avoid possible leakage, has just given the go ahead for the unveiling of the lucky senior lawyers.
Police deny attack by unknown gunmen in Anambra
The Anambra State Police Command has debunked reports that unknown gunmen, numbering about 15, attacked the Nkwo Awkuzu area, describing it as fake.
Some news sites had published that “unknown men have taken to attacking Okada riders at Nkwo Awkuzu. The men who are numbered about 15 matched towards Ifitedunu town on Awkuzu road after the attacks.”
DAILY POST however gathered that the news of the attack is false.
