The defeat encountered by the former ruling party in the state, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the last general election elections has turned the party to a strong opposition party in the state. It would be recalled that the current governor of the State, Governor Seyi Makinde of the People Democratic Party (PDP) defeated the governorship candidate of the All Progressive congress (APC) in the last election with a wider margin thereby making the ruling party a leading opposition party in the state.
Currently, the party is being faced with leadership problem. A faction known as Unity Forum in the All Progressive Congress (APC) recently rejected the imposition of the former governor of the State, Gov. Alao Akala on them. This is what the party is currently battling with. It is believed that the party will come out stronger once the political crisis is solved.
It is very important to know that the best way of wrestling power from Gov. Seyi Makinde and the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the state is by remaining focused and united.
