On Monday, Senate Minority Leader Enyinnaya Abaribe faulted the handling of the nation's Herdsmen crisis by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking on the Channels Television on Monday morning, Abaribe indicated that the stance of the President seemed to fuel the activities of these violent herdsmen.
The President needs to come out and state that these kinds of acts, these criminal elements, I do not endorse, Abaribe said. "He's should come out, everyone sees that this problem is his own."
He added, "We've never experienced that before. Where did the President ever claim that in this country, these criminal herdsmen will never be tolerated? What we have heard all the way down from 2016 is 'to live in harmony with your neighbor' and 'to try to please your countrymen' and things of that sort."
And it now makes it possible for people who commit these crimes to be prosecuted without any penalty.
"And when you see the rest of the world, eruptions here and there, all targetted at a specific segment of people, you should be very worried. What is it that gives these people the drive to continue committing these crimes, and why should you be so worried?”
