“Our nation now has millions of extremely poor people” - VP Osinbajo cries out

The Vice President of the federal republic of Nigeria, prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has come out to lament on the rate of unemployment and poverty in the country.

Sharing as a closing remark at the 2-Day Joint Executive Legislature Retreat, Prof. Osinbajo says the nation has drifted into deep poverty as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. “Our nation has millions of extremely poor people, the pandemic has worsened employment and poverty,” Osinbajo tweeted.

“We have huge deficits in infrastructure, many children are out of school. If that is our context we will be callous and irresponsible if we don't come together and work together,” he added.

According to Osinbajo, Nigerians must work together to collectively deal with the life threatening issues that confront Nigerians on a daily basis. In his own words; “We must work together to sort out these grave life threatening problems our people have to confront everyday.”

Osinbajo, also pointed that Nigeria cannot afford the luxury of dogmatic emphasis on procedural niceties.
