Nigeria election: INEC, Yakubu working for APC – Atiku
The presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has lambasted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for awarding contracts to companies linked to All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.
INEC National Commissioner Festus Okoye confirmed Binani Printing Press Limited was awarded a contract but said the commission never knew one of the directors was APC governorship candidate in Adamawa, Aishatu Binani.

Okoye said the contract was to encourage Nigerian companies and that a preliminary search at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) did not show the name of Binani, a Senator.
A statement on Friday by Atiku’s Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu said INEC’s excuse was watery, unconvincing, and suggested INEC was working for the APC.

Shaibu said despite an allocation of over N300billon as well as financial assistance from the European Union, the United States and the United Kingdom, the commission “run the commission without scruples’.
Gunmen kill village head, kidnap four in Niger
Gunmen suspected to be armed bandits have allegedly killed the village head of Gusasai community, Alhaji Abu in Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State.
The bandits were also said to have abducted his wife, two daughters and a male from his family.

The incident , it was gathered, occurred between 12am-1am on Wednesday in the area.
DAILY POST learnt the bandits stormed the community in their numbers, shooting sporadically into the air which created panic in the villagers.
Malam Abubakar, a member of the community, said the armed bandits stormed the area on Wednesday night and went straight to the deceased’s home and shot him in the presence of his family members in an operation that lasted about 30 minutes.
Election: Don’t allow over-voting, Cross River REC begs electoral officers
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Cross River State, Prof. Gabriel Yomere, has implored the ad hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission not to allow any room for over - voting.
He implored them on Friday during a training organised for the ad hoc staff at its state headquarters in Calabar, where he begged the electoral officers to “enter the right figures".

He said Saturday’s election would be different from the presidential and National Assembly elections because “it is local, emotions will be high and it is prone to violence ".
He said there was over - voting in the last elections, warning that with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, there should be no over - voting, adding that mutilation of figures would also create room for suspicions.
Supreme Court declares Jimkuta APC Taraba South senatorial flagbearer
The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed an appeal by a House of Representatives member representing Wukari and Ibi Federal Constituency of Taraba State, Danjuma Shiddi, seeking to declare him the All Progressives Congress flagbearer for Taraba South District.
The apex court in its judgment delivered on Friday dismissed his appeal for being incompetent and lacking in merit.

The court upheld the Court of Appeal judgment in Abuja which had earlier upheld the nomination of David Jimkuta as the valid candidate of the APC in the February 25 senatorial election in Taraba South.
Shiddi had last month approached the apex court praying for reversal of judgment of the appellate court and affirming the decision of a Federal High Court which upheld his nomination as candidate of the APC in the said election.
