Story Of The Nigerian Community With The Highest Number Of Generals

Zuru Community are indigenous to about , four local government area of Kebbi state : Wasagu / Danko Fakai , Sakaba and Zura . They are majorly christian , who occupy the southern part of the state .

To every zuru adults , there is no profession that is as glorious as the military . In every family , it is common to find up to ten members of the same family recruited into the army .

It is a pride in zuru Community today to find prominent senior Officers in the Nigerian army than any other community in Nigeria . The available records shows or indicates that indigenes of Zura community , always have the highest number of recruites into the Nigerian army on yearly basis .

Presently zuru Community have over eightees generals both in active service and retired . Zuru Community also have numerous other senior Officers . Among the lists is the present emir of the town major General Muhammadu Sanmi Gomell ( rtd ) , late major General Musa Bamaiyi ( rtd ) , major General Muhammadu magoro , major gen. Muhammad Isa Dan - Hane and so on .

The zeal or passion for military profession by zuru people is derived from Golmo cultural practice , under this culture , younths of this community are trained in the Spartan way of life and expected to exhibit bravery , courage and an act of manhood , before a wife is given to them . Under this practice , they are required to farm and hunt for their father - in - law to be , for some years before they are qualified to get wife , during this testing period , their courage and bravery are puts to test . The essence of this is to test their military might or capability .

Another culture of zuru people is like a cult association , where the younths are trained to keep secrets . This quality attracted them to the Colonial master , who discovered them as people who are physically fit , hardworking and can keep secrets . This attribute qualify most of them to be recruited into Nigerian army , and this form the basics for their large extraction into the Nigerian army .

In zuru Community , it is believed as an attitude of weakness when a man enlist in the police or other paramilitary force intead of army , simply because the cultural training or practice had already prepared them for a carrier in military .
