Wike, Makinde Made Atiku Lose Election—Bode George
Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has ascribed the loss of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the February 25, 2023, presidential election to the withdrawal of support by the PDP’s aggrieved governors under the umbrella of G-5 governors and other members of the party under Integrity Group.

The G-5 is made up of five PDP governors — Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Nyesom Wike (Rivers).
The aggrieved governors formed an alliance after the party’s presidential primary was won by Atiku Abubakar in May 2022. They demanded that the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu should step down for a southern replacement as a precondition to support the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku in the February 25 poll.
They said it was unfair for the party to have northerners as its national chairman and presidential candidate.
Adeleke Has No Plan To Dump Party—PDP
Governor Ademola Adeleke has no plans to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Osun State PDP has said.

In a statement by its Caretaker Chairman, Dr Akindele Adekunle, the rumour of Adeleke’s defection allegedly emanated from the All Progressives Congress and was circulated on social media.
He described the insinuation as a failed distraction agenda, calling on Osun voters to troop out en masse and vote for all the PDP candidates in the state Assembly elections on March 11.

Dr Alex Otti, the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party LP, in Abia State, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is dead and shall be buried at the polls on March 11.

He was speaking at a reception organised in his honour by the CY Nwankwo Foundation which took place at Isiala Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State at the weekend.
Otti boasted that the Labour Party killed PDP, having won one of the three senatorial seats and six out of eight House of Representatives seats in Abia State in the concluded National Assembly elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on February 25, 2023.
Bandits Attack Local Govt HQ In Zamfara, Kill DPO, Two Others
Armed bandits attacked the headquarters of Maru Local Government of Zamfara State on Saturday night, killing a divisional police officer and two others.
The gunmen who in their numbers stormed Maru, shot sporadically, forcing residents to scamper for safety.

Upon getting the information of the attack, the Divisional Police Officer of the Local Government, Kazeem Raheem, mobilized his men and some local vigilantes to repel the bandits.
However, the DPO, a sergeant named Rabiu Bagobiri and one vigilante official identified as Shehu Chuka, were killed in the process in the counter offensive.
'Retire honourably from active politics', VON DG tells Atiku
Mr Osita Okechukwu, the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), has urged Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate in the Feb. 25 election to retire honourably from active politics.
He made the plea in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja.

According to him, it is better to retire than to play the sore loser and sulk publicly with false narratives.
Okechukwu said Atiku’s desperation and crass opportunism led to PDP’s defeat at the polls, not Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate as he claimed.
Furthermore, he wondered what the election results would have been if it was mainly between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP.
