INEC Announced Results That Look Different From What People Captured On Their Phone-Bolanle Olukanmi

Several controversies have surrounded the just-concluded Nigerian presidential election, which produced the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Ahmed Tinubu, as the president-elect.

Nigerian TV host and documentary filmmaker Bolanle Olukanmi indicated during a recent interview with Amanpour of CNN that INEC had failed to transmit results directly after counting from each polling unit to their server, as many results of polling units saved on phones by people appeared to be different from what was on the INEC portal and being announced.

She stated, "INEC has an electoral act in 2020 where it is stipulated that results of elections are going to be transmitted electronically directly to the INEC platform, which every Nigerian can see immediately after the voting is done and collated at the polling units and their devices are used to capture the results." However, this did not happen, and many of those results that were even uploaded later to the INEC database are different from the results people captured on their phones from the various polling units.
