Festus keyamo SAN, the Minister of State for Labour has said that the 774,000 jobs proposed by the federal government have the sum of N52 billion naira budgeted for. The beneficiaries of the proposed empowerment job will be paid 60,000 as a monthly stipend for a period of 3months, of which N46.44 billion has been approved already to cater for that purpose. This was contained in an official letter addressed to the Chairman Senate Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity and the Chairman, House of Representatives’ Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity.
This programme will benefits Nigerians as it cuts across each Local Government Areas that make up Nigeria. The total people to be employed from each local Government Area will be 1000 totalling 774,000 beneficiaries across the federation.
Recently, for the smooth recruitment process, the Minister for State through a tweet from his official handle which reads that “kindly disregard all messages directing people to go to NDE offices to register for the Special Public Works. This will breach COVID-19 guidelines and it will not ensure we strictly achieve 1000 per local Government Area. The selection will be done from Local Government Area to Local Government Area, not in State NDE offices.”
