Two Southern politicians who may run for President under the PDP and APC flags in 2023

The election of 2023, is having more shape as days goes, those who don't believe that the Southern Governors forums declaration that power must return to the South have started to believing little by little. The reason is not farfetched, it boils down to the last minute change of PDP decision to zone the party chairmanship position to the north, against their earlier sheduled that would have pitched them against the South.

Since it became known that the South would be producing the next presidential flag bearer of the main opposition party, many political scientists have started analysing the possible outcomes and who may become the next president of Nigeria. The APC cannot be ruled out as the party that will control the Nigerian ship for the next four years, beginning in 2023.

The South East has a better chance of producing the next presidential candidate in the PDP, with people like former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, who is of Igbo origin, as the party's presidential candidate. The Igbos have not produced the president of Nigeria since the return of democracy in 1999. With Obi in the PDP, the Igbos will most likely fly the presidential flag in 2023.

The APC, on the other hand, has no choice but to do the needful by allocating the presidential flag bearer to the South, and in the APC, the national leader of the APC, Mr. Bola Tinubu, may be the anointed candidate for the APC. If this is achieved, what it means is that two southern personalities will be struggling to take over Aso Rock in 2023. The battle would be keenly contested. But the Igbos may take the lead; if the PDP nominates Obi, this may be possible due to the Anambra-born politician's antecedents, and Nigerians may want to balance the long-protracted marginalization gospel that Igbos have been singing for nearly 50 years.

Nigerians are waiting eagerly to see how this game is being played out, as the 2023 general elections draw closer. What do you think about this? Can you please send us your comments below the box? It's important for feedback. Like and share this piece of work. Follow us for updates.
