Top 6 richest and populous regions in Nigeria.
The six geopolitical zones are North-Central, North-West, North-East, South-South, South-East and South-West. This geopolitical Zone is made up of six states. Each region submits its resources to the federal government according to the Constitution.
Southwest is the richest region in Nigeria, it is made up of six Yoruba speaking states. Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Ondo, Ogun and Lagos. It has a population of 36,855,963 million people According to 2016 data and an estimated GDP of $78, 812 billion.
South-South is the second richest region in Nigeria. It is comprised of six states and different tribes living there, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Edo, Bayelsa, Rivers and Cross River. it is mainly known as Niger Delta and oil-producing States. It has a population of 16,043,187 million people and an estimated GDP of $74,512 billion.
Northwest is one of the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria. It comprises seven States out of 36 in the country. Jigawa, Kano, Kaduna, Kastina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara. It has a population of 43,114,144 people and an estimated GDP of $43,968 billion.
South-East is one of the richest regions in Nigeria, it comprised 5 States which are mainly Igbo speaking area. Imo, Enugu, Abia, Anambra and Ebonyi has a population of 21,995,414 million people and an estimated population of $36,719 billion.
The north-central region is the 5th richest region on my list, it comprised of 6 states and 1 federal territory. Benue, Kwara, Plateau, Kogi, Niger, Nassarawa and FCT. It has a population of 29,252,213 million people and an estimated GDP of 31,926 billion.
North-east is one of the geopolitical zones in Nigeria, consisting of the following states; Adamawa, Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Gombe and Taraba. It has a population of 20,437,117 people and an estimated GDP of $22, 379 billion.
