Counsel to the embattled Kaduna business man and activist, Muhammad Mahad, Mustapha Mahadi is accusing the Kastina state government of using the judiciary to persecute his client and trying him in four different courts. The business man has been in detention for 39 days for "whistle blowing", after he accused governor Mahadi of corruption and misappropriation of funds, involving billions of naira, under the guise of fighting security in the state.
The Kastina State government in turn filed a lawsuit, accusing the business man of defamation, trying to turn the public against the government and also of forgery. While speaking to the People's Gazette, Mr Abubakar, revealed that the state government charged his client in four different courts, the magistrate court, federal court and sharia court, he went further to accuse the government of having no shame, that they are prosecuting and harassing his client for having an opinion, he termed it as "embarrassing".
Mr Mahadi's lawyer, went further to disclose that the police benefited a whooping sum of N250 million from the high profile looting, all in the name of security and projects. A family member of the business man, Auwal Shehu Muktar told the People's Gazette that, all the allegations filed against him are false, but will like for the case to be tried in court, so that they can be able to present their evidences, that will prove that the misappropriation of funds happened. Despite all their efforts, they have been frustrated and denied by the Nigerian police and Kastina state government.
The business man's family member also revealed that the federal high court sitting in Abuja has granted Mr Mahadi bail, yet he was denied, he also revealed that the case has now been taken to the neutral court and they are hoping that his side will be heard and evidence will be presented.
