APC Puts the Unveiling of Kashim Shettima As Tinubu’s Running Mate On Hold

The Punch newspaper has reported that ruling the All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed the official unveiling of a former Governor of Borno State and senator representing Borno North, Kashim Shettima, as its vice-presidential candidate to Bola Tinubu.

However, the party did not give any official reason or explanation for the postponement. It did not also fix a new date for the unveiling ceremony.

Tinubu had announced Shettima as his running mate on Sunday.

However, the APC has not officially presented Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate to the public 4 days after the initial announcement.

Meanwhile, Tinubu's announcement has met with serious backlash, chiefly because of Shettima's religion which is the same as his (Tinubu's).Perhaps it is for this reason that the party decided to postpone the event. The barrage of criticisms and controversies that trailed the initial announcement must have jolted the party, causing it to sit back and take notice.

The party must have read the handwriting on the wall, having felt the heat enough since its initial announcement to warrant it putting a hold on the ceremony to do some house cleaning first before coming out publicly.
