The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba on Monday said nothing can stop inauguration of President-Elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu on 29 May as scheduled.

IGP Baba said this on Monday while cautioning those plotting to disrupt the May 29 presidential inauguration.

The who affirmed that the inauguration date remains sacrosanct vows that the police will do everything possible to stop those plotting to truncate Nigeria’s democracy.

IG Baba spoke at a press briefing in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

He warned those who have been issuing public threats directed at instigating actions to frustrate the Presidential inauguration ceremony on 29th May, 2023 to reconsider their stand as the police will not allow them to actualise their plans.

He said said: “Following the successful conclusion of the 2023 General elections, it has been observed that some major political actors that the outcome did not favour, have been issuing public threats that are directed at instigating actions to frustrate the Presidential inauguration ceremony on 29th May, 2023.

U.S. President Joe Biden said on Sunday he expects to meet with congressional leaders on Tuesday for talks on a plan to raise the nation's debt limit and avoid a catastrophic default.

Speaking to reporters in Delaware, Biden said he remained optimistic about agreeing on a deal.

Biden had been scheduled to meet with lawmakers on Friday but the meeting was postponed.

Biden said he had received an update on how talks had gone between administration staffers and their congressional counterparts.

"I remain optimistic because I'm a congenital optimist," Biden said. He said he believed there was a desire on both sides to reach an agreement. "I think we’ll be able to do it.”

The Onidimu of Idimu Land in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, Oba Azeez Olugoke, has joined his ancestors.

Policemen Comb Seun Kuti’s House, Shrine

Following the Inspector-General of Police order for the arrest of the late Fela Kuti’s son, Seun, over assault on a policeman on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos, Vanguard gathered, yesterday, that policemen stormed the Afrobeat musician’s Lagos apartment and the African shrine, in Ikeja area of Lagos to arrest him.

Vanguard gethered that police operatives were at Seun’s place on Saturday night and Sunday morning, but did not meet him.

A source told Vanguard that efforts were being made to apprehend Suen, who is suspected to have gone into hiding.

This came as Police Service Commission, PSC, yesterday, condemned the assault of a Police Officer in uniform and on official duty in Lagos by Seun.

PSC commended the Inspector General of Police, Baba Usman Alkali for his prompt action in ordering the arrest and prosecution of Seun.
