While at Arewa Textiles Company, he served as the union's president. He was named as the organizer of a labor union in 1975. Barely 23 years old then, he was. Adams Oshiomhole was appointed in 1982 to serve as the General Secretary of the Nigerian National Union of Textile Garment and Tailoring Workers (NUTGTWN). However, as soon after his promotion, the work was short-lived as he lost it. He had to look for other sources of survival as a result of being unemployed. In search of ripped clothes that he could change for people, all in a bid to make ends meet, this made him take to the pavement.
Before he ventured into trade unionism, which began as a result of the advent of democracy, he kept up with that small work. In 2003, Adams Oshiomhole was re-elected to serve as General Secretary and President of the National Labour Congress (NLC) by the Textile Union. In addition to serving as the Secretary-General of Nigeria's National Union of Textile Garment and Tailoring Workers, as well as the President of the National Labour Congress, Adams Oshiomhole was also a representative of African workers at the International Labour Organisation, where he worked with the Freedom of Association Committee. In the year 2007, Adams Oshiomhole got involved in politics. In April 2007, Adams Oshiomhole took part in the Edo State gubernatorial election.
When he was a candidate for the 2007 Edo State governor election, he belonged to the Action Congress Party, a political party. As with the election results, Oserheimen Osunbor of the Democratic People's Party was proclaimed the winner of the 2007 Edo State governor election.
However, on the 20th day of March 2008, the Edo State Election Tribunal nullified the outcome of the election. Having annulled the results that made Oserheimen Osunbor the winner of the 2007 Edo State gubernatorial election, the winner of the 2007 Edo State gubernatorial election was declared by Adams Oshiomhole. Adams Oshiomhole re-contested for the position of Executive Governor of the State of Edo in 2012. He came out triumphant as the winner emerged. Adams Oshiomhole ended his term as the Executive Governor of the Edo State on the 12th day of November 2016, having spent eight years in office. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) emerged on the 23rd day of June 2018 at the National Convention of the Party, Adams Oshiomhole, following a voice vote conducted by political party delegates.

At the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, which is located in Maitama, Abuja, the wedding ceremony between Jane Oshiomhole and Achimugu Aduku was performed. The reception then took place in the Day Dome Centre City, which is located in Abuja. At the venue of the occasion, dignitaries from all walks of life were present to give the couple all the love and encouragement they wanted.
