Sheikh Gumi, popular Kaduna-based Islamic Cleric, has condemned the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho over their activities in the Southern part of the country.
Gumi revealed this in a statement on Monday, noting that IPOB was gradually destroying the South-East and Igboho has sparked confusion in the South-West.
Gumi reasoned that the duo should be engaged and discouraged from continuing with their agitations.
''The North-East has been devastated for over 12 years and if we allow terror to set in into the heart of these naive, unexposed bandits, the North-East will soon be devastated.
''IPOB is presently destroying the South-East and Igboho has introduced the element of confusion in the South-West.
''For those planning to destroying the North-West, it is a wicked adventure. If bandits are turned to religious fanatics, what then remains for Nigeria?
''I am trying to get these crude bandits out their evil adventure. Unfortunately, I have few helpers and sea of critics.
''I wish an Igbo cleric goes to the IPOB militants to dialogue with them, and a pastor of Yoruba extraction discourages the Igboho secessionist movement by means of enlightening people on the values of a cohesive nationalism that will ensure justice, equality and freedom for all.
''Religious interventions can permeate hardened hearts while secular interventions cannot. Unfortunately, some people sit down in the comfort of their rooms and make idle remarks that only rub salt on the wounds of ethnic intolerance and jingoism,'' Sheikh Gumi lamented.
