Breaking News: Majority Leader Of Niger State House Of Assembly And Deputy Impeached

The Niger State House of Assembly has today, Thursday, 16/07/2020 impeached its majority leader, Suleiman Nasko, and his deputy, Andrew Jagaba, following the adoption of a motion by Ndagi Baba.

Baba, a lawmaker representing Lavun Constituency said the majority and deputy majority leaders were 'responsible for the slow movement of activities in the House, adding that the House under their leadership was not progressing'.

While reacting, the Speaker of the house, Abdullahi Wuse, said he did not get a prior notification of the decision to impeach them, branding it a contradition of the Standing Order of the House.

But not to be dettered, Mohammed Haruna, a representative of the Bida II Constituency, made a motion that the order read by the speaker be suspended, a motion seconded by Malik Madaki, a member representing Bosso Constituency.

Yabagi Akote, another member of the House representing Gbako Constituency, nominated Abba Bala as the new majority leader and was seconded by Suleiman Gambo, representing Paikoro Constituency.
