Presidency clarifies Buhari’s ‘warning’ to Uzodinma in Imo

President Muhammadu Buhari's last words at the meeting with South-East leaders in Imo have been twisted and deformed, according to the presidency.

The promoters of deception, according to the President's spokesman, Femi Adesina, want Nigerians to believe that Buhari cautioned Governor Hope Uzodinma.

Adesina said in a statement on Sunday that the President had said, "I will be mindful with your (Uzodinma's) future invitations."

According to Adesina, some people have interpreted the phrase in ways that are not consistent with the context in which the President spoke.

Over 50 politicians from across the area greeted Buhari at the banquet hall of Imo Government House in Owerri, he said.

Adesina went on to say that the Nigerian leader was overwhelmed by the reception and the celebrities who traveled to have a heart-to-heart with him.

Buhari was cited by Adesina as saying that he had expected to see just bridges, roads, and repairs throughout his presidency.

‘‘He didn't say he was bringing the entire Igbo leadership here.'‘ When he invites me in the future, I'll know what to do. I believe he has done something that the military does not approve of. He has succeeded in surprising me.”

“Governor of Imo State, I cannot thank you enough, but I will be cautious with your future invitations,” Buhari said, according to Adesina.

He argued that the President's visit was a success, and that Igbo leaders who met with him shared his enthusiasm for the trip's potential to promote peace, togetherness, and improved understanding.
