News reports have indicated that the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Elders Council has requested Professor George Obiozor who is the current President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to commence instant meetings with other ethnic groups in Nigeria inorder to achieve the expectation of an Igbo president in the year 2023.
The group reportedly released a public statement after their consultation at the Government House, Owerri, on Saturday.
The gathering was allegedly piloted by the state Governor,Hope Uzodimma,Governor of Ebonyi State,Dave Umahi and the representatives of other governors.
According to the outcome of the meeting, the Igbo group hoped that the year 2023 would be the year that there should be an Igbos president. It,therefore, advised Igbo politicians to stop speaking against zoning.
The council instructed the Ohanaeze Ndigbo to collaborate with other ethnic groups in a bid to actualise the presidential politica goal .
Moreover, the group appealed to every Igbo man with the right attributes to indicate readiness to contest in the 2023 presidential election.
As regard to its official position concerning the issue of insecurity in the region, the council had allegedly mandated Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership to corroborate with the state governments in Ala Igboland so as to minimise the exposures of those living outside Igboland.
The council recognised the fact that Ala Igboland required a security outfit to tackle issues that are seen to be peculiar to the culture, religion, and tradition of Ala Igboland.
Meanwhile, Uzodinma had made it known that the governors of the 5 South-eastern states have resolved to convey a summit in Owerri inorder to deliberate on the modalities of establishing a security outfit for that Nigerian region.
Meanwhile,Governor Hope stated that the summit would assist in accessing the security status in the region and provide the pertinent solutions to its security problems.
