Femi Fani-Kayode, the Director of New Media sub-committee of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, has criticized those who claim that Lagos State is "no man's land," particularly non-Yorubas. In an article shared by Vanguard Newspaper on Facebook, Fani-Kayode said that it is not only absurd but also deeply insulting for non-Yorubas, especially Ibos, to claim that Lagos belongs to them. He believes that every time they say it, they are disrespecting the Yoruba people and spitting on the graves of their ancestors.
The former Minister of Aviation went on to emphasize that Lagos State is an integral and vital part of the South Western States of Nigeria and the Yoruba nation. According to him, Lagos is a Yoruba territory, and any claim to the contrary is nothing but a blatant lie. Fani-Kayode believes that the Yoruba people have a deep connection to Lagos, and their history and culture are deeply rooted in the city.
Fani-Kayode's comments reflect his strong belief in the importance of Lagos State to the Yoruba people and his conviction that any attempt to claim it as a "no man's land" is disrespectful and insulting to the Yoruba people and their heritage. He hopes that his message will resonate with people and help to put an end to the false claims that Lagos belongs to anyone other than the Yoruba people.
