Gov Bello swears in new Kogi Chief Justice, President Customary Court of Appeal

Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello was sworn in on Thursday to the recently confirmed chief justice of the state, Judge Richard Olorunfemi, and the President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Judge Isiaka Momoh-Jimoh.

Governor Bello in his speech by his deputy Edward Onoja instructed the legal lords to perform all the functions of their respective offices with erudition and awe of Almighty God, noting that there was no doubt that they would provide excellent leadership to our justice system. and the state in general.

The Governor alluded to the fact that, as proof of positive and cordial relations in the three branches of government, there had been multiple successions in the judicial branch since the passing of the late Judge Nasir Ajanah, and each time the government respected the laws and principles established by the Constitution and the judiciary itself and refrained from interfering with existing hierarchies or organizational charts.

He recalled that on March 26 and August 2 of this year, the state government took the oath of office to their lordships in their respective offices as an interim, expressing that the ease with which they crossed all the processes leading up to today's event including screening and confirmation to the Kogi State House of Assembly confirmed that his administration's confidence in them was not misplace

Governor Bello said that the state was indeed fortunate to have found worthy incumbents of these two most critical offices of the administration of justice in Kogi state, claiming that the two lords of the law to which these positions had been entrusted were very well known persons and possessed the education, the experience and above all the character to carry out their functions effectively, efficiently and with the fear of Almighty God.

He called on Judge Richard Olorunfemi and Judge Isiyaka Momoh-Jimoh to continue as Head of the Judiciary of Kogi State and President of the Customary Court of Appeal of Kogi State to put their long experience of experienced lawyers serving the administration of justice in this state.

In his remarks, Justice Richard.O. Olorunfemi, who spoke on behalf of the newly sworn-in judges, assured of their utmost discharge from the swift dispensation of justice, pledged to make the state proud.
