The coordinator of the Labour Party's Southwest Campaign, Lanre Fadahunsi, has released a statement on the general elections in 2023. Lanre Fadahunsi claimed in a recent article by Vanguard Newspapers that the Independent Electoral Commission did not give enough tags to allow the party's agents to be recognized in various voting booths.
He added that almost 3,000 agents had been uploaded to the INEC website so that tags could be given to them, but that INEC had only issued less than 700 tags, which were insufficient to cover all of the polling stations.
In spite of the fact that we uploaded over 3,000 agent profiles to the INEC website, according to him, "In Osun, the non-issuance of the agent tags to Labour Party agents made it difficult for our agents to be recognized legally. Less than 700 tags were handed to us at the end of the day.
Because of this, it is challenging for our agents to be on the ground. As a result, the parties split the votes that should have gone to the Labour Party.
