Wamakko who didn't disclose the total numbers of those he had already, then vowed to appoint more in the nearest future. Also, he didn't reveal the amount the appointees would be collecting as salary.
This is not the first time the federal lawmaker would do an unusual thing. Recall that, a week ago, the former governor of Sokoto State held a wedding ceremony for 10 of his children in one day at a ceremony witnessed by dignitaries from all walks of life.
However, ever since the news of the appointment hit social media, Nigerians have been expressing mixed reactions. Some condemned the gesture because the selection would have been based on politics rather than merits.
Hence, there wouldn't be any value addition to the polity and their consistency. Of course, some commended the senator for the appointment and urged others to emulate him.
As reported by Sahara Reporters, some of the new appointees are former local government council chairmen, secretaries or former lawmakers and retired top civil servants, and others.
Their names were published in some national dailies but were not assigned to any office or portfolio, or task. That is, they are only aides without job descriptions!
When asked why he took such action, below are the reasons given for the appointment as reported in a publication by Sahara Reporter:

1. Senator Wamakko said the gesture would reduce the unemployment rate in his constituency. Truly, joblessness is one of the problems confronting Nigeria.
No matter what, taking them in, would impact some lives positively. But, the question is, can this be sustainable after the senator leaves office in 2023 if not reelected?
2. The senator said the aides would help him in ensuring diligent representation of his constituency. In what sense? This was not specified in his statement. He only said that All the Special Assistants would provide for the needs of the constituents.
