The All Progressives Congress (APC) has now instituted a case of certificate forgery and perjury against the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and his deputy, Philip Shaibu. the case was instituted at a Federal High Court in Benin City.
The APC and one of its members named Edobor Williams instituted the cases just few weeks to the Edo governorship election, popular and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Chief Wole Olanipekun, is leading four other SANs as the plantiff Counsel in the case.
They are asking for the court to stop Obaseki and his deupty from contesting in the election for allegedly lying on oath and submitting false documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). They also want the People's Democratic party to be prevented from Fielding any person as it Gubernatorial Candidate.
We don't know what the outcome of the case will be, but if these requests are granted Obaseki won't be able to contest for the forthcoming Gubernatorial Election and this might give Ize-iyamu an easy win in the State. What do you think of this? Do you think obaseki would lose this case?
